Cleaning White Plastic Gutters

A simple solution of water and white vinegar works very well for cleaning the outside of the gutters and won t corrode aluminum. Make a customized gutter solution by mixing dawn liquid detergent with half a cup of bleach and 2 gallons of warm water. Use some elbow grease or a power washer. Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year to avoid clogged downspouts and mildew.

Use cleaners designed for vinyl siding if the gutters are stained. Apply the solution on the interior and exteriors. Close off your gutters by plugging the downspouts and pour the vinegar solution into your gutters and let it sit for an hour or longer. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then use a scrub brush to scrub the exterior.

After draining the vinegar solution out rinse the gutters out thoroughly then use a scrub brush to scrub out any remaining dirt. Rinse off the outside of the gutters with the garden hose and scrub them lightly with a nylon bristle brush. Gutters are used to help catch the water running off of the roof along with other debris like leaves and sticks from surrounding trees. Dump the debris onto the tarp.

You can also make a paste with a small amount of water and cream of tartar which will act as a cleaner and gentle buffing agent in one. One such brilliant cleaning agent is white vinegar or technically known as acetic acid which can be easily found in any household. Rinse both the sides with a water hose to reveal sparkling white gutter. Before you begin make sure to scoop out all the dried leaves and debris to free your gutters from any clogging material.
